Dining in Soi Thonglor

Most visitors cease eating once the sun goes down and commence what is almost a daily routine for most travellers to the city – drinking. This is a real shame because some of Bangkok’s best food comes out late at night. One of my absolute favourite things to do is to head to Thonglor for some late night eating. There are many fantastic street side stalls that only set up late at night along Sukhumvit Soi 55, otherwise known as Soi Thonglor. Turn left into Soi Thonglor from the BTS and walk down the road past a mouth-watering selection of fruit stalls, noodles, fried chicken, and grilled pork.

My most recent love in Soi Thonglor is a noodle shop selling egg noodles with barbecued pork and dumplings. This particular shop is located across the road from Witches Tavern. It is the only noodle shop in this location, so it is not hard to find. This stall churns out bowl after bowl of long, tasty noodles, with fat luscious pork dumplings to hungry party goers from the nearby clubs. The soup is what sets this noodle shop apart from all the others. There is no need to add the usual concoction of chilli, fish sauce and sugar to their soup because it is already perfect.

Keep walking down the street past a store that is lit with bright white lights and you will reach another street stall immediately after this one. It is well-known amongst local Thais as being the place to come for late night laarb and grilled pork.

Both of these places will set you back about 50 baht for one of the most scrumptious meals you will ever experience. There are plenty more food gems waiting to be found in Soi Thonglor. So next weekend, keep some room in your stomach for a late night eating adventure.
