Dine in Style at Long Table

With so much traffic, noise and pollution, it’s little wonder that Bangkok’s trend setters have decided seek refuge in the form of roof top restaurants some 20 floors at least off the ground. One of the newest additions to this scene is Bangkok’s Long Table. Long table is not quite the same as the tourist hot-spots of Sirocco and Vertigo. It remains relatively unknown to tourists, which means that you can enjoy a drink on the balcony or a meal at the world’s longest dining room table in a little more peace and quiet. Long Table is found on the 25th floor of the Column Building. It is not on the roof top, but the floor to ceiling window allows for a spectacular view across Bangkok’s Sukhumvit area.

The first thing you’ll notice when you step into the chic entrance of Long Table is the impressive communal dining table. Walking towards the bar, guests can get a glimpse of the great views. I recommend coming here to watch the sunset while you sip one of the bar’s well-mixed and inventive cocktails. Happy hour is a real bargain as well. The other great thing that sets Long Table apart from its roof-top competitors is that its food is actually very good. Classic Thai dishes are artfully presented and taste superb. Our group of four left absolutely satisfied in terms of the foods taste, presentation, and quantity.

Make sure you book ahead if you want a seat at the prized table. If you miss out, you can always enjoy the comfortable lounge dining area, with all tables enjoying great views of the city as well. Prices are higher than on the ground, but not unreasonable. You’ll get away with spending less than 1000 baht for a full dinner and a couple of drinks per person.
