The Street Stalls around Central World

Central World Plaza bore the brunt of the recent political turmoil in Bangkok, and at least part of it still remains closed. However, the area around Central World Plaza is back open and is certainly alive and kicking. Whilst shopping within the centre maybe be more limited than before, the lively market like atmosphere on the streets around it offers some great night time shopping and dining options. Just walk down the main road in front of Central World and you will find a variety of clothing and accessories stalls, food vendors, and everything in between.

This area is teeming with people on any night of the week, creating a fantastic night-time atmosphere. The shopping available here is all very reasonably priced, and a lot of the stores offer set prices, meaning you can get a bargain without having to bargain with the store-owner.

If you’re feeling a little parched or peckish, then just stop by one of the many fruit juice of snack vendors and pick up something to munch on or sip whilst you browse the many stores. Alternatively, keep heading up the road and keep walking until you pass Isetan and you will come across a fantastic row of street side eateries selling some great Isaan food. The grilled chicken and fish, as well as the larb and som tam are some of the best you’ll find. These stores are particularly popular, so you might have to wait a while to get a seat, but trust me, it is well worth it.

This nightly shopping market strip is open and very lively on any night of the week.
