However, in amongst the rabble, is a fantastic, or should I say fabulous cafe which offers a calm and cultured respite from the business of Khao San. This place is called Fabulous Bar and Dessert Cafe, and specialises in delicious home-made desserts and coffee. It can be hard to find a good cup of coffee sometimes in Bangkok, but Fabulous serves up top-quality everything, every time.
The trendy decor is matched with friendly and professional service. The staff speak good English and are very knowledgeable when it comes to coffee and their tantalising dessert menu. One of the best bits of Fabulous is their menu which comes in the form of an I-pad, allowing you to scroll through the photo gallery of their delicious menu. When your order comes out you won’t be disappointed. The coffee smells and tastes fantastic, just like it does back home in the specialty coffee bars. The desserts are artfully presented, and full of real flavour, not just sugar like we may become accustomed to in many cafes throughout Bangkok. Fabulous also have a wide range of teas and alcoholic beverages should you fancy a drop of tea with your afternoon tea, or perhaps something just a little bit stronger.
There is free wi-fi available, so bring your laptop and spend the afternoon with a cup of coffee in the air-conditioned comfort of this classy little hideaway on Khao San Road. Fabulous is located down an alleyway off Khao San Road at the police station end. As you walk up Khao San towards Burger King, look out for the Fabulous sign on your right hand side.
