Explore the Bangkok Doll Museum and Factory

This interesting attraction is absolutely ideal for young kids or anyone interested in dolls or Thai costume. The Bangkok Dolls are famous throughout Thailand and have won awards locally and internationally.

The museum is small and the factory where the dolls are made even smaller. Naturally everything is for sale and the prices are high. Dolls are all handmade and act as miniature models for a history of Thai costume and culture. Historical fashions from neighbouring nations are represented too and there are some antiques among the collection. There is a small selection of cuddly dolls but generally these are ornamental.

Admission is free but you’ll probably find yourself feeling obliged to make a purchase. Unless you have a serious interest in dolls and Thai traditions you’ll only need half an hour to an hour to view all the offerings. The museum is manned by friendly and helpful staff. Finding it can be tricky as most taxi drivers don’t seem to have heard of it, but when you get close it is sign-posted.

The Bangkok Doll Museum and Factory is located at 85 Soi Rajatapan,
Makkasan, Bangkok. For more information call 02 245 3008
