Unique Bangkok
Posted by admin on September 10th, 2009 filed in Living hereFormerly a steamy Asian metropolis’ epitome, in recent years Bangkok has gone under the knife and has become a rejuvenated starlet, defiantly daring visitors to estimate her age. Her wrinkles have not all vanished, but you may not see them in the ever-expanding, reliable and efficient public transport network, international standard restaurants and air-conditioned mega-malls.
But don’t take this to mean that there is no “real” Bangkok left. Wat Phra Kaew and the Royal Palace still sparkle just as they did over two centuries ago. Bangkok cuisine can still be sampled in Bang Lamphu’s shop houses, while the underground and Skytrain have had little impact on Thon Buri’s canal-side houses.
The capital’s unique traditional framework remains alive and kicking and can be absorbed within a short stroll from every Skytrain station or most likely just around the corner of your accommodation establishment.
